Star Trek Online is having a bit of a difficult challenge making the leap from PCs to consoles, like the console version of Cryptic’s superhero MMO–Champions Online.

According to Videogamer, Cryptic’s MMO take on the Star Trek world is “on the back burner.” Craig Zinkievich of Cryptic says that the developer has had the game up and running on “certain consoles,” but that all of the developer’s focus is on the PC version of STO right now.

There aren’t many MMOs for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. You’d think that more publishers and developers would want to be in on this monthly subscription business (ahem, Blizzard…) but that’s usually the thing that console owners balk at. Personally, I don’t mind the monthly service fee, as long as I’m actually getting something out of it; I wouldn’t mind seeing a good MMO on the 360 sometime in the near future.
