Texas publisher Devolver Digital has announced that Serious Sam 3 will be released on the PC, PS3 and 360 this summer. The game will be a prequel to the series, with DD saying that it is a “glorious throwback to the golden age of first-person shooters where men were men, cover was for amateurs and pulling the trigger made things go boom”.
It takes place during Earth’s fight against Mental’s invasion. Expect collapsing temples, ancient civilisations and destroyed 22nd century Egyptian cities amongst the carnage. Don’t expect to be able to hide in this one, there is no cover system and there is no camping. This is what games should be about. However, you can expect new melee attacks, a 16 player campaign and versus modes.
With Duke Nukem Forever finally being released this soon too, it looks like it’s going to an excellent year for FPS’ that go back to the time-honoured tradition of blowing things up for great justice.
