Rare has rebranded themselves to celebrate their 25th anniversary in the games industry. The current fruits of the rebrand include a new logo (see above), with a full website re-launch at www.rare.co.uk in the pipeline. The logo has four variants, with different colours and different shapes surrounding the old-school top right “R”. There haven’t been any specific reasons why the company is getting a rebrand but expect something from them at this year’s E3. They have ported all the research and development tasks to a Birmingham-based studio so it looks like Twycross is back in the business of making games.
Head of Studio Mark Betteridge said: “Both Rare and the games industry have seen massive changes over the past 25 years, and right now it feels as if both we and the industry are continuing to evolve at an ever-increasing pace. With this landmark anniversary coming up, and knowing that we have a really exciting future ahead, we felt now was the time to have a new image more in keeping with an innovative and creative entertainment company which aspires to be around for at least the next 25 years!”
