EA has announced a new version of Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit in development over at Criterion Games. It’s a new entry in the proper Need for Speed franchise and will be released on 16th November 2010. There were no formats mentioned in the trailer, but we can guarantee the PS3 and 360 will be a lock-in for it with a PC version looking likely. The game has a new Autolog mode that will track your stats in comparison to your friends among other bits and pieces. It also has full careers for both racers and cops.
A trailer of the game showed racers trying to get away from cops across forests and deserts in all kinds of fancy expensive cars. When we saw a police-branded Bugatti Veyron we did indeed yelp a little, but we’re convinced that was our inner Jeremy Clarkson taking over for a second. Expect Lambos, Koenigseggs and Zondas amongst others in the full game. A live demo on stage seemed to look the part, but it did drag on for a bit and the cop seemed to catch the racer relatively easily. However, instead of simply arresting the offender, cops in this game wipe out criminals with Burnout-esque mess of metal and carnage. Here’s the E3 trailer:
