Valve has confirmed that Left 4 Dead 2: The Passing DLC is coming Thursday, April 22nd on both the Xbox 360 and PC. This will be the first game add-on for Left 4 Dead 2. It brings the original Left 4 Dead 1 survivors down south in rural Georgia, where they meet with the L4D2 cast. The DLC adds new single player, multiplayer and co-op gameplay.
The Passing also adds a series of weekly game mode events called “Mutations”. These are basically week-long new gameplay mode runs that range from “Realism Versus” to “Chainsaw Massacre”. The latter will give all players chainsaws with an unlimited supply of gasoline. Valve has planned over 20 Mutations in the pipeline, with each playable on all L4D2 campaigns. The Passing also adds a new co-operative challenge mode, infected bots in Versus, a new zombie class entitled “the fallen survivor”, a new melee weapon in the form of the golf club and a new firearm in the form of the M-60.
The pack will sell for 560 Allards on the Xbox 360, and will be free on the PC. It takes place just after the Dead Center campaign in L4D2.
