Warner Bros has today announced F.E.A.R. 3 for the 360, PS3 and PC. The game will be launching on autumn 2010. Alma returns for F.E.A.R. 3, but this game focuses on her sons Point Man and Paxton Fettel. These two are the playable protagonists in the game’s focus on co-op, with each character offering different abilities. Point Man is the main character when playing the single player story, but can also be played as in the co-op mode. Paxton Fettel is only playable via the co-op mode, but features telekinetic powers. The game is currently in development at Day 1 Studios, whom developed the original F.E.A.R. console versions.
“Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment is evolving the F.E.A.R. brand with top horror, co-op and first person shooter combat in F.E.A.R. 3,” said Martin Tremblay, President, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. “Monolith Productions has passed the torch to Day 1 Studios to create a quality, powerful game that stays true to the roots of the F.E.A.R. franchise but takes players to a heightened level of gameplay.”
Horror director John Carpenter of Halloween and Village of the Damned fame has teamed up with script writer Steve Niles (notable for 30 Days of Night) to provide consultation on enhancing the game’s frightening aspects. Niles co-wrote the game’s script, with Carpenter helping to craft the in-game cut-scenes and cinematic elements.
