EA Games has announced today that they will be developing a prequel to Dead Space 2, entitled “Dead Space: Ignition”. Just before Isaac Clark begins his adventure on “The Sprawl” a Necromorph outbreak occurs and players will be able to find out just how the events unfolded. The arcade game will be available this Fall on Xbox Live Marketplace and Playstation Network.

“Dead Space Ignition is the first of many exciting game extensions we have planned for the launch of Dead Space 2,” said Steve Papoutsis, Executive Producer on Dead Space franchise. “The interactive comic-style game will give Dead Space fans a unique perspective on the events leading up to Dead Space 2, but will also introduce the storyline to a brand-new audience of gamers.”

You’ll find the continuing story of the Dead Space saga when Dead Space 2 releases on January 25th, 2011 for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 and Windows PC.
