Bungie has confirmed that they will be developing a new game engine for their upcoming game with Activision. The new engine will be built from the ground up by the studio, rather than licensing third-party technology.
“Just like we don’t want to develop a game off someone else’s IP, we want to push our own technology in the same way. That’s going to be our position for the foreseeable future,” said studio communications manager Brian Jarrard.
Back in April, Bungie announced a 10-year partnership with Activision to develop games across all platforms. Apparently, the partnership will include only one IP. However, the world hasn’t been made privy to precisely what the deal entails yet (in terms of specific gaming titles).
