Sony has confirmed that they will be offering a premium version of the PlayStation Network. Called “PlayStation Plus”, it will give subscribers stuff like exclusive in-game DLC, free full games every month, early access to demos and betas and an auto-patching feature that will detect, download and install updates for you. It will cost $49 annually or $18 for three months. PlayStation Plus will begin from the end of this month. Subscribers will receive Wipeout HD, an inFamous demo, Fieldrunners, Age of Zombies, Rallycross and some themes and avatars for free in July. However, the “free” content you get from Plus will only remain in your possession for the duration of your subscription. When you leave, it will all expire.
