Nintendo President Satoru Iwata has announced that the Nintendo 3DS will have an on and off switch for 3D effects. The announcement was made during a Forbes interview with Iwata, answering concerns that 3D games might have possible health effects. The Virtual Boy was Nintendo’s last 3D console, and caused headaches for many players.
The 3D on and off switch supports the rumour that the device is using Sharp’s parallax barrier technology. That technology can quickly switch from 2D to 3D thanks to cutting off the electrical current going to the parallax barrier, which sits above the LCD screen.
