Nintendo is finally starting to put an end to the friend code nonsense they started on the DS with the 3DS. They announced today at their US and European conferences that the system will have one universal friend code that will work across all games. If someone’s on the same WiFi network as you or you are near them, you don’t even have to enter their codes either.

Apparently, there will also be a centralised friends list that you can use and will allow you to join your friends much more easily. We don’t know anything else about that, but we will report back if we find anything else about it.
