Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has announced that he will be keynoting the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco next month. That will be his fourth keynote address at the famous developer get-together. His session this year is called “Video Games Turn 25: A Historical Perspective and Vision for the Future”. His talk matches nicely with this being the 25th anniversary of the San Francisco GDC.
“We are honoured and pleased to welcome Mr. Iwata back to the keynote stage for our 25th conference,” said GDC director Meggan Scavio. “Nintendo continues to innovate and captivate developers and gamers alike, and we’re looking forward to their unique insights into both the history and future of the game business.”
Iwata has a history of using his GDC talks to release the megatons, with his 2005 session lifting the lid on the Nintendo Revolution (their codename for the Wii). We’re going to be boarding the hype train for this speech and have madly predicted a brand-new Mario 3DS title entitled “Super Mario Galaxy 3DS”. You heard it here first. Regardless, expect details of his actual speech to be on here as and when he makes it.
