Ilomilo is a weird game. It comes across as this odd cutesy thing with bizarre-looking characters an odd gameworld and nothing more. The presentation is muddled up in its own rubbish and it doesn’t offer the best of first impressions. Despite this, what lurks beneath the ridiculous aesthetics and the “plot” (one dude wants to meet another for some afternoon tea) is a cheeky little puzzler.
Capcom has slapped a date on Bionic Commando Rearmed 2. It will be released on the PlayStation Network on 1st February in the US and on the Xbox Live Arcade on 2nd February. The PSN version will cost $14.99 and the XBLA release will set you back 1200 Allards.
Microsoft has announced that the 2011 Xbox Live Arcade House Party promotion will be starting on February 16th. It will include the new Beyond Good & Evil HD revamp, Hard Corps Rising, Bejewelled Blitz, Full House Poker and Torchlight.
Atari has announced Dungeons & Dragons Daggerdale for the PC, XBLA and PSN. It will be released in spring 2011 and is currently under development at Bedlam Games. Expect lots of the usual fantasy stuff (Realms under attack by some evil dude) and a multiplayer mode that has a “riveting” narrative apparently.
Dark Energy Digital has announced that they will be dropping a big update for Hydrophobia tomorrow (21st December). The update coincides with a permanent price drop from 1200 Allards to 800 Allards. Bethesda has announced that Quake Arena Arcade will be released on the Xbox Live Arcade this Wednesday (15th December). Expect HD and Widescreen support, a new Single Player campaign, thirty classic maps and twelve Xbox-exclusive maps. You will be able to take on fifteen of your friends in six modes over Live, including Deathmatch, Capture the Flag and Harvester.
Konami has confirmed that the PS3 version of X-Men Arcade will be released two months after the 360 version. The XBLA release will be hitting Europe and the US on 15th December (next Wednesday). The PSN release is currently pencilled in for a rather vague “February”. It’s not currently known how much the game will cost. X-Men Arcade is a port of the original multiplayer focused X-Men arcade title.
Twisted Pixel has announced Ms. Splosion Man. The development outfit previously delivered The Maw, ‘Splosion Man and Comic Jumper. Ms. Splosion Man is due out in autumn 2011. Atari and Sony have announced Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime for the PC, PSN and Xbox Live. Players once again assume the role of the rookie from Terminal Reality’s game. Bomberman Live: Battlefest has been given a date for the Xbox Live Arcade. It will be released on Wednesday 8th December. Expect eight-player online battles, character customisations, more power-ups and four modes: VIP, Bankroll, Capture the Flag and Capture the Crown.
Capcom has announced that Xbox Live Arcade exclusive Dead Rising 2: Case West will be released next month. The game sees the return of Frank West as he peruses Fortune City in order to investigate Phenotrans. His goal is to find proof of its involvement with the zombie outbreaks. Case West is set immediately after Dead Rising 2, and allows Frank to team up with Chuck Greene in co-op.
SEGA has deleted all the scores from the Sonic 4: Episode 1 leaderboards because of some good for nothing cheaters. Naughty (and impossible) times of 0 seconds have been deleted, as well as 99999990 scores. Disappointingly though, all the legitimate results have also been destroyed. Furthermore, it appears that there’s nothing SEGA or anyone can do to prevent the devious hackers from reposting the dodgy scores to the leaderboard.
This new episodic Alien Breed series has been interesting. It may not be as exciting as the series was back in the old days, but the third-person semi top-down shooter does have its moments.
