Devolver Digital has confirmed (via the medium of twitter) that Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter will be released on the Xbox Live Arcade on 22nd September. The PC version of the game was well-received when it was released a while back. The Xbox Live Arcade version has been in the pipeline for a while thanks to the testing and submission process for the game leading to regular delays.

EA and Hothead Games have confirmed that they will be bringing a DeathSpank sequel next month. It will be called “DeathSpank: Thongs of Virtue”, and is due out on the PSN on 21st September and the Xbox Live Arcade on 22nd September for 1200 Allards. The storyline will take place across a war-torn continent from the North Pole to the high seas as DeathSpank seeks to find and destroy six mystical thongs.

“We’re taking action RPG fundamentals and adding loads of new creatures, environments, weapons and characters, while continuing to push the envelope with our signature humour,” said Vlad Ceraldi, director of game development at Hothead.

Suda51 and his Grasshopper studio (most recent work includes the No More Heroes series) will co-develop a new game for the PlayStation Network and the Xbox Live Arcade. The game will be called “Sine Mora”, and the team will partner with Digital Reality to get it out. That title means “without delay” in Latin, which is quite apt as Sine Mora is a side-scrolling shooter with time manipulation gameplay. No one has said how much it’ll cost or when it’ll be released yet. Apparently this will be the first in a range of games from the duo.

THQ has announced that they will be publishing Costume Quest, the next title from Tim Schafer and his development studio Double Fine. The game is a third-person adventure RPG, set during a Halloween night. You play as a trick-or-treater and have to collect sweets, points, cards, battle stamps and mission assignments as you potter about the neighbourhood.

Costume Quest will be released this autumn as a downloadable title on the Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network, with a sequel coming in early 2011. “We wanted to make a big impression with these, our first downloadable games ever,” Schafer said. “So we are coming out swinging with two great adventures from two of the most creative minds in the company.”

Square Enix has confirmed that Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light will be released on the Xbox Live Arcade without its online modes (online co-op, leaderboards and voice chat). They will be patched in at the same time as the PC and PSN versions are released on 28th September. The game will be released on 18th August in a one-month timed exclusive deal.

Apparently, five downloadable content packs will be released for the game between October and December on all platforms. The first three DLC packs will add “new puzzle, exploration and combat experiences and new areas to explore”. The last two will add some new playable “well-known videogame characters”.

Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light will set you back 1200 Allards on the Xbox Live Arcade and $14.99 on the PlayStation Network and Steam.
