Rare senior programmer Nick Burton has told Official Xbox Magazine that the company will be redesigning the Xbox 360’s “Avatars” to be more Kinect-friendly. Apparently, the current Avatars have cartoony proportions that some users didn’t feel comfortable with. A number of players couldn’t co-ordinate their moves with the characters on-screen. Rare designed the Avatars back when Microsoft released the “New Xbox Experience” dashboard for the Xbox 360 back in 2008.   Read More ...

Microsoft has announced that the Kinect will be released in the UK on 10th November. The 4GB Xbox 360 Kinect bundle will be released on that date for £249.99, alongside the device itself and games for it. The launch titles include Kinect Adventures, Kinect Sports, Kinectimals and Kinect Joy Ride. The rest of Europe should be getting the device on 17th November.

EA has announced EA Sports Active NFL Training Camp. The game is coming out for the Wii on 16th November, but there are Kinect, Move and iPhone versions in development. Apparently Training Camp was made with the help of real-life NFL coaches. It has 70 drills and challenges to improve strength, power and conditioning, according to EA.

Microsoft has finally lifted the lid on how much the Kinect will set you back. The multi-camera device will cost £129.99/$149.99, which includes launch title Kinect Adventures. Kinect titles will set you back £39.99 ($49.99), so basically the same as regular games. The company has also unveiled a new 4GB Xbox 360, which will effectively be the new Arcade console. It will set you back £149.99/$199.99. The US will get   Read More ...

A device listing (on Play.com) for Microsoft’s upcoming Kinect states that the device is only capable of tracking two active players. Specifically, it says the camera “tracks up to six people, including two active players”. That’s from the spec issued to Play straight from Microsoft. Other interesting things to take away from the listing are that the Kinect has a 57 degree horizontal field of view, a 1.2 to 3.5m   Read More ...

ShopTo has claimed that Kinect’s UK RRP is £129.99, and will be released on these shores on Friday 19th November. ShopTo are selling it for a bit less, at £124.86. Microsoft hasn’t revealed an official price point for the device anywhere yet, but their own shop lists it at $149. It’ll be hitting the US on 4th November and the rest of the world sometime after.

SEGA has confirmed that they are working on a new game for the Kinect, which they deem as “original” and “sophisticated”. They believe it will please hardcore gamers more than the current tosh announced for the device. Sega West president was talking to CVG about an idea that could develop into something in late 2011 or early 2012. “They’re sat with their test tubes and bunsen burners and… using the   Read More ...

We’ve shown you some of our concerns for Kinect so far thanks to this article. However, what about how Kinect could possibly become a phenomenon for Microsoft in the future? We’ve seen the tech demos when the controller first appeared on the scene as “Project Natal” with Milo among a couple of mini games. But, this past E3 has shown us the full power of Kinect and what it will   Read More ...

Well, while all the retailers were guesstimating at the price range for the recently revealed Kinect device, the Microsoft Store seems to be jumping on the bandwagon as well.  The full body-motion sensor gaming device appears to be sticking to its $149.99 price point. The pack includes the 640 x 480 camera (Kinect device) as well as a wifi extension cable and power supply cable as according to IGN.

The Microsoft Store is currently allowing folks to pre-order the Kinect for $149. The company has yet to comment, but this price point is looking increasingly more likely as most US retailers have jumped on the $149 bandwagon. The Microsoft Store product page for Kinect informs us that it’ll include the Kinect sensor, power cable, manual and a Wi-Fi extension cable.

A Microsoft representative has confirmed that a $199 version of the new shorter Xbox 360 will be released this autumn. There will also be a SKU that contains one of the new 360s and Kinect. The $199 model is designed to target the Wii, so it would make sense for the company to work out a solution for that side of the market. There’s no information about what the $199   Read More ...

US retailers Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop and Walmart have started Kinect pricing speculation by slapping a $149 pricetag on the device. Microsoft hasn’t confirmed the pricing for the Kinect yet, with Aaron Greenberg reiterating on his twitter: “No Kinect price announced yet, retailer price estimates are purely speculative, final price & pack-in details are not yet determined.” UK retailers haven’t mentioned a price yet. Kinect will be out in the   Read More ...

Child of Eden, our personal highlight from the Ubisoft E3 Press Conference, will also support normal controllers on both the 360 and the PS3. Previously, it was only confirmed that the game would support the Move and the Kinect. The game dramatically opened Ubisoft’s conference, with the game’s creator (and maker of Rez) Tetsuya Mizuguchi taking to the stage to show it off. Here’s the E3 trailer for the game:

Kinect sure has had a lasting impression on a good deal of us, ever since its introduction into the gaming world as ‘Project Natal’. The technology that Microsoft has put behind this revolutionary motion controller is absolutely astounding. It is the only device I’ve seen that picks up input without any handheld peripherals such as the Move controller or the Wii Remote. However, there are a few concerns about Kinect   Read More ...

THQ has confirmed that they’re working on a new UFC fitness game for the Xbox 360 Kinect, PlayStation Move and Nintendo Wii. UFC Trainer will be released in Q1 2011. The company is aiming to push the technology by trying to eliminate lag, which was evidently a disappointing part of Move and Kinect at E3 unfortunately.
