Valve has sent word that they have released Left 4 Dead on the Mac. Mac gamers are now able to download the game through Steam. Valve also confirmed that they have a Halloween sale going down on Steam right now too. They seem to think that it features “savings up to 75% off select titles”.
Valve has released a Halloween-themed update for Team Fortress 2. The update adds the first ever NPC in Team Fortress: the Headless Horsemann. EA has confirmed that DeathSpank and Shank have been released on the PC. They both cost £9.99 on Steam, and there’s a demo of Shank available to play around with. DeathSpank is an action RPG, developed by Ron Gilbert of Monkey Island fame and his merry men. Shank is a platform game with loads of blood.
Valve and Activision have announced that Call of Duty: Black Ops will be coming to Steam’s PC contingent. The game is now available for pre-purchase on the service. Valve has today announced that Steam has achieved new account growth of 178% over the past 12 months and sales growth of over 200%. Over 200 Steamworks games have been shipped so far. SI Games has announced that they will be releasing two demos for Football Manager 2011 this week. The first will be released on Steam on Thursday, with the second touching down for everyone on Friday. 2K Games has confirmed that those who buy or have brought Borderlands through Steam will get a demo key for Duke Nukem Forever. Steam Borderlands owners will get access to the DNF demo at the same time as Borderlands GOTY owners. Gearbox still hasn’t slapped a specific date on the demo, but expect it in 2011 before the full game’s release.

The administrators handling Realtime Worlds will not be offering refunds to players who bought copies and subscriptions of APB. The MMO is now closed, after just two and a half months online. Valve has announced a Steam Wallet system for Steam. Gamers will be able to fill it with a bit of real-money funds in small lumps: £4, £8, £18, £35 and £70. Valve will be staying with real currency and won’t be entertaining the notion of a “Steam Points” system. The Steam Wallet funds can be bought with prepaid cards and promotional codes as well as with credit cards.

Ubisoft has announced Bloody Good Time for the Xbox Live Arcade and Steam (PC). The game is a multiplayer shooter running on Valve’s Source engine. Essentially, the Bloody Good Time puts players on a Hollywood set and lets them decide what they want to do.
