This week on the Nintendo Download, its a kid oriented week. Balloon Kid from the original Game Boy makes its debut on on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS.

For Wii Ware (Nintendo Wii) we have the release of Gnomz: Welcome to the world of Gnomz, an exciting new arcade fighter for the WiiWare service. Battle in 25 action-packed arenas and discover magical power-ups, flying elephants, rainbows and glowing reindeer.

Only for Nintendo DSi and Nintendo 3DS you’ll see the releases of 1950s Lawn Mower Kids and House M.D. Episode 4: Crashed.

If you’re looking for some Jaws action, look no further then Jaws: Ultimate Predator, an M rated game coming for the Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo Wii from Majesco Entertainment.

The game is apparently out to get some beach going swimmers, as you simply swim around looking for victims and bite them until they turn into an explosion of blood. The game will see release at the end of November.

“You can see the game is very focused on that horror atmosphere, so it’s not made for co-op play,” said producer Masachika Kawata in conversation with Eurogamer back in June. “We’re focusing on the single player this time.”

But did he lie? Did he put the wool over our eyes?!  Looking at the official Japanese site, it reveals that the game supports “2 people” in “communication-play mode.” The site also lists “local play, Internet play, extended slide pad” as being supported by the game. Exactly what form the multiplayer mode takes isn’t clear, but given that some parts of the story see Chris, Jill and others working alongside a partner character, cooperative play probably isn’t out of the question. Or perhaps there’ll be an alternative mode for multiplayer action. I’m hoping for storyline co-op, myself. If it’s multiplayer Mercenaries or something, I may frown so hard I can’t breathe.

Do you like solving intricate puzzles? How about pointing at people screaming “OBJECTION!!!”? Then, boy, do I have something for you.

Level-5 has released a trailer of Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney for the 3DS. You don’t know who Professor Layton or Ace Attorney are? First off- I’m disappointed in you. But I digress. Professor Layton is an interesting little DS game where you wrack your brain with increasingly difficult puzzles and ultimately solve the big mystery Professor Layton is working on. It’s a wittier Nancy Drew game with more top hats. Ace Attorney is better known as Phoenix Wright, a game where you work behind investigating crimes as well as going through trial.

As the trailer shows us, Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney will take us toLabyrinthCity, a medieval location where our protagonists will encounter an witch named Mahoney and a villain who can seemingly alter reality his pen.

It’s almost been a year since Level-5 teased eager fans with the teaser reveal of its Professor Layton and Phoenix Wright crossover. People were beginning to wonder if the game was ever actually coming out and now law abiding puzzle fans such as myself are in for a treat. A Japanese release has been confirmed for 2012, but the westerners only have a promise that an English release will be in store.

This new system update will bring in 3D Video Recording to your system in November.

The other highlight of the update is that players will be able to experience new challenges in StreetPass and the StreetPass Mii Plaza. Also announced, Super Mario 3D Land will be appearing on store shelves on November 13th. Mario Kart 7 will be available on December 4 and will include a first person optional driving mode that you can control via the gyro sensor. The game also introduced new characters like Lakitu and Metal Mario.

Looking ahead, in honor of the 25th Anniversary of The Legend of Zelda series from September 28 2011 to February 20, 2012 you’ll be able to download The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Anniversary Edition. You’ll be able to download it on your Nintendo DSi or Nintendo DSi XL and even the eShop on your Nintendo 3DS.

In 2012, gamers will be able to enjoy a new installment in the Animal Crossing franchise bringing with it a number of features from previous titles as well as brand new options. You’ll also see the arrival of Luigi’s Mansion 2 and even a title from the Paper Mario franchise. It was also determined that the upcoming release of Kid Icarus: Uprising for 3DS needs more development time and has therefore been delayed until 2012, no specific date was given. Nintendo is also in the process of developing 3D Kid Icarus animations with critically acclaimed Japanese anime production houses. These animations will be made available free of charge via the Nintendo Video^™ service to Nintendo 3DS owners worldwide.

Coming this holiday season, Activision has announced DreamWorks Super Star Kartz.

DreamWorks Super Star Kartz is a compilation of 14 characters from DreamWorks Animation from Shrek, Madagascar, How to Train Your Dragon and Monsters Vs. Aliens into a new kart racing game similar to that of Mario Kart. You’ll race as your favorite characters as you jump, speed, and boost your way through wild courses. Racers can put the pedal to the metal with multiple game modes including Battle, Circuit and Time Trial. You’ll have unique weaponry and tricks to beat out your opponents and your invited to bring your friends in competitive 4 player split screen co-op on consoles.

The game is rated E for Everyone and will be available this holiday season for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii, Nintendo DS and Nintendo 3Ds.

Nintendo has shown off a new Super Mario 3DS trailer at their E3 press conference just now in Los Angeles. The game is built from the group up and features the Tanooki suit. Expect it to ship before the end of this year.

Nintendo has showed off a new trailer for Mario Kart 3DS at their E3 Press Conference earlier. The game is shaping quite nicely, and seems to be pushing customisation. Also expect new hang-gliding segments for great justice. We’ll keep you updated when new information from the game is unveiled.

Satoru Iwata has just confirmed that Smash Bros. is coming to both the Wii U and the 3DS. According to Iwata, the two versions can link up to each other. He also let slip that Masahiro Sakurai (currently working on Kid Icarus Uprising) will be developing the game. Other than that, there has been no other details or information on this game yet but we’ll keep our ear to the ground and keep you updated. Iwata warned that this will be a long-term project for the future.

Nintendo has just announced Luigi’s Mansion 2 for the 3DS. The game was shown as part of a montage so details are thin on the ground, but going by the gameplay that was displayed it appears to be the same as the original. Obviously, expect 3D and ghosts.

Today Traveler’s Tales Games and Warner Bros Interactive have announced the development of Lego Harry Potter Years 5-7.  If you’re wondering, yes this will be the follow up to the previously released Lego Harry Potter years 1-4. The game looks to have a target release window of Q4 2011.

Based on the last three Harry Potter books and final four films, LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7 takes players through Harry Potter’s heroic adventures in the Muggle and wizarding worlds.  From Privet Drive in Little Whinging to Diagon Alley, Hogsmeade and Hogwarts – plus new locations including Grimmauld Place, the Ministry of Magic, and Godric’s Hollow – players will encounter new faces, new challenges and new magic, preparing them for the ultimate face-off against Lord Voldemort™.

Lego Harry Potter will see release on the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, NGP (Playstation Portable 2) and Nintendo Wii, DS and 3Ds.

EA has announced Need for Speed: The Run. As you can expect, it’s the next entry in its long-running driving series Need for Speed. The Run will be released on the 3DS, PC, PS3, Wii and 360 in North America on 15th November and Europe on 17th November.

Apparently, Need for Speed: The Run will once again be set in the world of underground racing. However, the twist this time is that it will take place against the backdrop of a high-speed race across the US from San Francisco to New York.

This time, development duties are being handled by Black Box. They’re the developers that controlled the franchise from 2002 to 2008, creating seven consecutive yearly updates. Those included NFS Underground and our personal favourite: NFS Most Wanted.

“EA Black Box will spend more than two years of development time on The Run to make sure this is the most action packed and finest cinematic racing experience in NFS history,” EA said.

Intriguingly, The Run will use DICE’s new Frostbite 2.0 engine. That’s the same one that’s going to be used in upcoming FPS Battlefield 3. Criterion’s social competition service Autolog from Hot Pursuit will also be making an appearance.

Nintendo has released the opening movie of The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time 3DS port. As you can see, it looks pretty much like the N64 original’s opening except it will be all 3D and stuff on the 3DS. Anyways, it’s nice to see that the port is finally on its way. We are trying not to give in to our desire to purchase a 3DS just because of an old game, but that internal fight is getting more difficult every day.

Nintendo has been gathering a lot news lately, hasn’t it? The rumor circle continues to boil especially with all the latest information regarding the rumors of Nintendo’s newest console. Miyamoto paid a visit to London, England yesterday and spoke with Next-Gen.biz about everything concerning the rumors of this new console and even the recent release and future possibilities of the 3Ds. He also explained that the recent lack of software has only been due to the fact of Nintendo’s concentration in hardware. Miyamoto said that the company is ready to develop and release games again.

As you can expect, in this behind closed doors event; Miyamoto was questioned on the rumors regarding the console announcement and this was his statement; “Don’t ask!” he said. “Even when the Wii launched we were developing new hardware, work on 3DS had already started. It’s a matter of when we announce it.” and when pressed as to whether this announcement would be at E3 he responded with “Please wait. Be patient until we decide.”

Miyamoto also expressed interest in building a remake for the Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past on the 3Ds and his hopes for the eShop for digital download games on the Nintendo 3DS.

While the above trailer looks eerily like a new Professor Layton title, it is not.  It is a completely different title for the 3DS, Doctor Lautrec & The Forgotten Knights. Coming from Konami, the game has you playing as an archaeologist from 19th century Paris known as Doctor Lautrec. The game looks to include puzzles as well as RPG-like battles. Look for the game to hit this summer on the 3DS.

Nintendo announced this morning that an official release date has been set for the upcoming remake of the Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time 3D. The game is set to hit store shelves on June 19th in the States.

The game will feature updated graphics, new gameplay elements, especially thanks to the touch screen on the 3Ds. It also appears the game will also have newly implemented motion controls as well as including challenges that did not appear in the original Nintendo 64 classic. You can also look forward to the Master Quest included in this version of the game as well which features revamped and redesigned puzzles and dungeons along with a ton of upgrades to the game.

Kmart blog, My Kmart, revealed the latest in retail offerings for the upcoming handheld launch of the Nintendo 3DS. With every in store purchase of the system at $249.99 you’ll be able to save $25.00 USD off any launch 3DS titles ($29.99-$39.99). It appears noted that the game must be purchased at the same time as the system is purchased for the savings to be in effect.

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has revealed that The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time will be released in June for the 3DS. He didn’t confirm whether that was a worldwide date or just for North America during his Game Developers Conference keynote.

“Last year marked the 25th anniversary of Super Mario, this year it’s the 25th of Legend of Zelda,” said Iwata.

Nintendo head honcho Iwata-San today announced a brand new 3D Mario game. It will be released on the Nintendo 3DS, and is currently in development at the same team that developed Super Mario Galaxy (plus its sequel). The world will be in full 3D and apparently tails will be a big part of the game. The Tanooki suit has been confirmed to return too.

Nintendo hero Shigeru Miyamoto has announced that he is working on Super Mario Broz. for the Nintendo 3DS. Miyamoto unveiled the game in a new Iwata Asks interview on Nintendo’s official website. He said: “In the interests of adopting new technology for the Super Mario Bros. tradition, I am now making a new Super Mario Bros. game for the Nintendo 3DS system.”

“I think Tezuka-san is exactly right about making something that families can enjoy together,” he added, “but I also think it’s important to always use the most advanced technology for Mario in order to create something no one has ever seen before.”

“Of course, it’s important to make sure people still say things like “Falling down the holes is the most fun!” but something new is necessary for other aspects of the games, and it’s those new elements that make a Super Mario Bros. game what it is. I want to show everyone as soon as possible what the new Super Mario Bros. will be like on the Nintendo 3DS.”
