Konami has given out a few details about Metal Gear Solid: Rising at its E3 press conference. The game is set between Metal Gear Solid 2 and Metal Gear Solid 4. It will show how Raiden went through his dramatic transformation to the cyber samurai ninja found in MGS4. There will be futuristic fast-paced stealth, dismemberment and jumping attacks.

You can use the unique cutting ability to take off life, energy, items, information, parts and ammunition off enemies, but you have to be strategic with your cutting angle and what you want to take from Raiden’s foes. Metal Gear Solid: Rising will be released on the 360, PS3 and PC in 2011.

Konami has announced a new IP at their E3 Press Conference, entitled “NEVERDEAD”. We won’t be capitalising it like them because it looks odd. Regardless, it will be released on the PS3 and 360 at some point. A date was not forthcoming so we have no idea when it’ll be hitting the shelves, but it should be next year by the way the company was hyping it up.

It’s a third-person action adventure, taking place with the world under threat from a demonic plague. Evil has been gone for centuries, with a hero made immortal by demons. The demons return to present day Earth and they’re not very happy. As you may expect, the protagonist turns out to be the immortal hero and has to sort the problem out. To do so, there’s a butterfly design-inspired sword and guns, as well as regeneration.

“For NEVERDEAD, we‘ve introduced some truly exciting new forms of gameplay and sword fighting, including a unique healing mechanism originally designed and conceived by former members of Kojima Productions,” explained Martin Schneider, European Marketing and PR Director for Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH. “Their contributions, and those of the development team, have helped forge a great new action IP to add to Konami’s vast lineup.”

Konami announced a new installment of the scary, creepy, thriller Silent Hill at their E3 press conference. Silent Hill: Homecoming was the last installment of the series to make an appearance on the PS3 console, which was developed by Foundation 9 Entertainment and Double Helix Games. The new game will be simply titled ‘Silent Hill 8’, (according to the press release, but this is a working title) delivering the same feeling of horror and suspense that we’ve come to expect from the series.

It’s under development over at Czech outfit Vatra Games, but expect series mainstays like weird enemies, parallel worlds, blood, gore and lots of general horror. Apparently the combat will be different than past titles in the series, with Konami promising that it will improve “in a logical direction”.

The game will “try and give gamers a feeling of helplessness and dread”. The trailer shows the walls disintegrating around the player as he tries to survive in the dark and rainy world, accompanied by his faithful flashlight and gun. The game also follows a new protagonist, a convict (the jumpsuit and shackles gave it away a bit) with blonde hair called Murphy Pendleton. A bus transporting him crashes into a ravine, with everyone but him and a female law officer dying. They explore the area and walk straight into Silent Hill. After that, there were some typical Silent Hill moments; torchlight exploration through dark houses, random creatures attacking you for no reason whatsoever and rusted iron features everywhere.

One other interesting bit of information is that the composer who does the music for amazing TV show Dexter, Dan Licht, will be sorting out the music side of the game. Silent Hill 8 is set to be released in 2011 for the PS3 and Xbox 360. We’ll be updating this post with a YouTube embed of the trailer once a high quality video appears.
