Ignition Entertainment has announced that El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron for North America and Europe on the PS3 and 360 in 2011. Previously, the game was only available in Japan. For those not in the know, El Shaddai is a 3rd person fantasy action game. It’s supposedly inspired by events in the Old Testament, specifically the “Book of Enoch”. Enoch is a human who is caught in a battle between Heaven and Fallen Angels.

Enoch is tasked with fighting the Fallen Angels to save humankind from a flood ordered by Heaven to wash away the Fallen Angels’ empire. To do this, he has to use his combat skills and heavenly weapons. Lucifel, a red-eyed angel, follows Enoch about and gives him advice. The game features substantial contributions from Sawaki Takeyasu (Game Director, Character Designer) and Masato Kimura (Producer), with credits spanning Devil May Cry, Okami and Viewtiful Joe.

“When developing this title, it was imperative that we give these immensely talented game designers total artistic freedom,” says UTV Ignition Entertainment Chairman Hassan Sadiq. “And they have truly risen to the occasion by forging an adventure that combines a compelling, universally relatable story line with deep gameplay and a uniquely expressive visual style.”
