Epic Games has announced that there will be a multiplayer beta for Gears of War 3. The beta will hit some time in early 2011. Epic has confirmed that the beta includes dedicated servers for ranked and social matchmaking games, just like the full game (also announced today). In a weird move today, Epic Games and Microsoft have decided that Gears of War 3 isn’t going to make its originally planned release in April 2011. Epic Games has confirmed that the Gears of War 3 ‘Fate of Carmine’ campaign has raised $150,000 for Child’s Play. The charity event ended September 1st and now Clayton Carmine’s fate has been sealed and avatar shirts brought from now on won’t count to the end result. Epic Games has announced that they will be having a 6x XP week for Gears of War 2 during E3 next week. The game has seen less players partaking in multiplayer proceedings recently so it looks like this move is to try to bring them back. It will run from 9AM EDT June 14th until 9AM EDT June 21st.
