EA has announced that a demo for EA Sports MMA will be released on September 28th on the Xbox Live Marketplace and the PlayStation Network. The demo features Jason Miller against Jake Shields and Alistair Overeem against Bobby Lashley with both matches overseen by John McCarthy. The demo will also have a tutorial and information about the game’s other modes. Apparently, if you share the demo with friends, you’ll unlock Randy Couture as a playable character in the full game.
EA has unveiled their Q1 2010 financial results for the period ending 30th June. FIFA World Cup South Africa 2010 has sold three million units so far, helping net revenue to get to $539 million. That’s not as high as it was for the same period last year. EA has blamed it on not having many titles out. They only had six major titles out between April and June this year. That’s compared to 10 during the same period last year. Digital revenue was pretty high though, reaching $188 million. All this meant that the company made $96 million in profit. Last year, the company lost $234 million.
This was despite EA’s Wii software sales dropping 75% year-on-year. They went from making $161 million to a paltry $40 million. It appears casual gaming isn’t for everyone.
EA Sports has announced that NBA Elite 11 on the 360 and PS3 will include download codes for NBA Jam. The publisher hasn’t confirmed plans to release Jam separately on the XBLA or PSN yet, but it doesn’t look likely. The 360 and PS3 versions of Jam will have “Play Now”, “Classic Campaign” and “Online” for up to four players. The Remix Tour mode will remain exclusive to the Wii version. In it, players get to have boss battles against ballers like Magic Johnson. NBA Elite 11 will be released on October 5th.
EA has released a demo for Madden NFL 11 on the Xbox Live Marketplace. It’s available for all Xbox Live regions and clocks in at 1.47GB. We’re not exactly sure what the demo contains, but expect to see new game features like a new playcall system, quicker games, dual stick control and the ability to create custom game plans.
EA Sports have confirmed that the Wii version of FIFA 11 will have a Street mode. Basically, that means it will be five-a-side football with smaller indoor and outdoor pitches surrounded by walls. Players will be able to jump and play passes off the wall, similar to one of the cheats on the Megadrive versions of the game.
There’s also an arcade game type that will allow you to pull off super shots, bursts of speed, shockwaves, shoulder charges and more, thanks to a power bar. The venues for this mode include Brazil, London and France, with you also being able to change and tweak some of the rules and match types. There’s stuff like Tug of War, First to Score, how big the goals are and even where they are on the pitch.
FIFA 11 will be released on all platforms known to man across time and space on 1st October in Europe.
EA has announced EA Sports Active NFL Training Camp. The game is coming out for the Wii on 16th November, but there are Kinect, Move and iPhone versions in development. Apparently Training Camp was made with the help of real-life NFL coaches. It has 70 drills and challenges to improve strength, power and conditioning, according to EA.
EA has confirmed that their MMA title will be released on 19th October in North America on the PS3 and 360. Other dates haven’t been announced yet, but there’s no reason why the UK one shouldn’t be on the Friday in the same week, as per the course these days.
EA has announced Fight Night Champion, the next entry in the Fight Night series due out in 2011 for the PS3 and 360. The game is focused on career mode, with players tasked with building a boxer and taking him through the ranks. EA has implemented a new “Full Spectrum Punch Control” system (their words, not ours) and they claim it’s the most realistic and most user friendly system the series has ever produced. There are around 60 to 65 boxers in the game, with the ability to add more via DLC.
EA has confirmed that FIFA 11 will be released on 1st October in Europe. North America will get it on 28th September. EA has also detailed the game’s new Creation Centre, which allows you to create players and teams from scratch. You’ll be able to share them with friends across the world. There’s also Custom Audio, which allows you to set chants for your team.
Microsoft has confirmed that Fight Night Round 4 and Ski-Doo Challenge have joined the Xbox 360 Games on Demand service. Fight Night Round 4 is available in all Xbox Live regions except those in Asia. Ski-Doo Challenge is now available in North America.
EA has released a demo for NCAA Football 11 on the Xbox Live Marketplace. The demo is currently only available in Canada and the United States, as the rest of the world is busy watching actual football and Wimbledon. NCAA 11 focuses on individual school traditions and plays apparently. It’s going to be released on July 13th.
We wish we had time to write a post for each of these titles with their respective dates, but we quite simply don’t. So without further ado, here is a list of the EA titles that were dated at the EA E3 Press conference this year (in order of when their announcement was made for added internet drama):
Need for Speed Hot Pursuit: November 16th 2010
Dead Space 2: January 25th 2011
Medal of Honor: October 12th 2010 (Beta coming June 21st, early access June 17th)
Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam Expansion Pack (Winter 2010)
EA Sports MMA: November 16th 2010
Bulletstorm: February 22nd 2011
Hello once again folks. We’re here with another E3 liveblog. This time, we’re over at EA’s conference. It’s looking like it could be pretty interesting, so we thought we would give it a shot. We hope you guys enjoy reading these posts as we enjoy making them. We have a laugh and might pretend to hate things that aren’t necessarily for us (casual games), but we normally take an objective view to everything and welcome new gamers. With that said, on with the show.
If you would like to follow our live text/image feed of this year’s conference, it’s ready and waiting for you after the jump. We’ll be following up our live coverage with a mass of news posts from the event.
Those Nike Pro Combat threads in the new NCAA Football 11 demo aren’t just for looks. They are in the full version as well. Downloading the demo gives you access to the alternate uniforms in the main game.
Playing each of the four matchups—Florida @ Florida State, Oklahoma @ Texas, Ohio State @ Miami, and Clemson @ Missouri—will unlock those packages in the full release for you. But there’s more—by “sharing” the demo, using a menu option to send a message to your friends to download the demo—you get three more alternate universities: Virginia Tech, LSU, and Texas Christian.
Your quarter length is still restricted to two minutes, though. But given that it’s free, you get four different matchups, some unlockable gear; there isn’t much room for complaint. The demo is available on Monday for both the Xbox 360 and PS3.
EA has started the FIFA Online open beta. You can register for the beta and play the game over at the FIFA Online website. The game has the typical FIFA gameplay you’ve come to expect from the series, as well as management elements such as buying and selling players. As you play, you gain experience to spend on things that’ll benefit your team. Shinpads boost defence, and whistles boost attack (we’re not sure why, but that’s just how it is).
FIFA Online also has single and multiplayer modes, as well as the ability to compare your progress with friends. The game will be supported on micro-transactions when it’s fully released. At the moment the theme of the beta is around the FIFA World Cup.
