EA Japan has announced that Suda51 and Mikami’s new game is going to be unveiled at the EA Tokyo Showcase 2010. That event is held on September 15th, one day before the Tokyo Game Show begins. EA claims that more games will get announced at the event, so we’ll keep you posted.
EA and Hothead Games have confirmed that they will be bringing a DeathSpank sequel next month. It will be called “DeathSpank: Thongs of Virtue”, and is due out on the PSN on 21st September and the Xbox Live Arcade on 22nd September for 1200 Allards. The storyline will take place across a war-torn continent from the North Pole to the high seas as DeathSpank seeks to find and destroy six mystical thongs.
“We’re taking action RPG fundamentals and adding loads of new creatures, environments, weapons and characters, while continuing to push the envelope with our signature humour,” said Vlad Ceraldi, director of game development at Hothead.
BioWare head honcho Ray Muzyka has announced that Mass Effect 2 will be coming to the PS3. The space-opera RPG was released on the 360 a while back, and up until now the series has been exclusive to the Xbox 360 and the PC. The PS3 release will be available sometime in January 2011.
EA has finally dated The Sims 3 on consoles for 26th October. John Buchanan just confirmed the date at gamescom in Germany. The game will be focused on positive and negative karma, as well as community features where you can share your stuff with players everywhere. It will be released on the DS, Wii, PS3 and 360.
Online retailers have leaked news of a Battlefield: Bad Company 2 “Ultimate Edition”. They say it will be released in the UK on 3rd September and around that time in the US. Apparently, it will include Battlefield 1943, Bad Company 2’s Onslaught mode, limited edition unlocks and VIP downloads.
Crytek has announced that Crysis 2 will be released in North America on 22nd March and Europe on 25th March 2011. EA delayed the game earlier this month, shifting it from holiday 2010 to Q1 2011. No one has said why it’s been delayed yet, but we’re guessing it’s to give Crytek some additional polishing time or to get the game out of a competitive Christmas gaming meltdown. The game will launch in 3D on the PC, PS3 and 360.
EA has unveiled their Q1 2010 financial results for the period ending 30th June. FIFA World Cup South Africa 2010 has sold three million units so far, helping net revenue to get to $539 million. That’s not as high as it was for the same period last year. EA has blamed it on not having many titles out. They only had six major titles out between April and June this year. That’s compared to 10 during the same period last year. Digital revenue was pretty high though, reaching $188 million. All this meant that the company made $96 million in profit. Last year, the company lost $234 million.
This was despite EA’s Wii software sales dropping 75% year-on-year. They went from making $161 million to a paltry $40 million. It appears casual gaming isn’t for everyone.
EA has announced yet another Need for Speed game. It’s a sequel to Need for Speed: Shift, and is due out on consoles and PC between January and the end of March in 2011. Aside from that, we don’t know much more about it. There’s an influx of Need for Speeds this year, with Hot Pursuit coming on 16th November and World will be released by the end of EA’s 2011 financial year. The original version of Shift has sold over four million units. The entire Need for Speed series has sold more than 100 million units since it begun in 1994. It has made over $2.7 billion.
EA has announced that Crysis 2 has been delayed. The game will now be released between January and March 2011. We haven’t been given any reason why the company has delayed the game, but it’s currently rumoured that Crytek were waiting for PC hardware manufacturers to catch up. Regardless, it will be released on the PC, 360 and PS3 eventually, and will support 3D.
Yup, Electronic Arts seems to be cranking up the milking machine with another new Sims game in the works. This one is called MySims Sky Heroes. It’s a new flying adventure title developed under the EA Play label. The game will be released on the Nintendo Wii and DS and for the first time on the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.
In MySims SkyHeroes, players take to the sky to lead the resistance against Morcubus and his drone army and to stop his plans to take over the skyways. Starting as an unknown pilot, players fight to become a celebrated hero as they defeat dangerous enemies in aerial combat, test their reflexes in fast-paced speed challenges, and take on massive enemy bosses that demand all their skills as a pilot to survive. As they progress, players build, customize and tune their aircraft to give them an edge in combat – upgrade wings for swifter maneuvers, switch out the engine for a speed boost, or change the paint job to camouflage the plane and avoid enemy fire.
The game is set to hit store shelves this Fall. Look for more info here as it becomes available.

This time, Massive J Productions and Homez Industries are granted access to a super top secret hands on viewing of the Nintendo 3DS, and thus feel rather special.
Furthermore, the crew take it upon themselves to rage, shortly after offering insightful converse on such topics as Kirby’s Epic Yarn and Donkey Kong Country Returns.

EA has announced The Sims Medieval, a new Sims series for the PC and Mac. Apparently, players will get to control a kingdom and all the Hero characters that visit it. Typical fantasy RPG staples are included: wizards, knights, blacksmiths, bards, kings and queens amongst others. Players will be able to pick their traits and their flaws. Apparently you’ll also be able to follow them on quests and help them out.
Also expect typical Sims boring stuff like having kids and general maintenance of your peeps. Apparently you’ll be able to mess around with bashing out armour, healing the sick, trading and jousting. It all sounds very enticing. The Sims Medieval will be released spring 2011.
EA Sports has announced that NBA Elite 11 on the 360 and PS3 will include download codes for NBA Jam. The publisher hasn’t confirmed plans to release Jam separately on the XBLA or PSN yet, but it doesn’t look likely. The 360 and PS3 versions of Jam will have “Play Now”, “Classic Campaign” and “Online” for up to four players. The Remix Tour mode will remain exclusive to the Wii version. In it, players get to have boss battles against ballers like Magic Johnson. NBA Elite 11 will be released on October 5th.
EA has announced Create, a new game that is about creating more games. It’s due out this November for the PC, PS3, 360, Mac and Wii, and is in development over at Bright Light Studio in Guildford, Surrey.
“Create uses families’ imaginations to develop new ways to play together that are both fun and challenging,” said Harvey Elliott, vice president and general manager at EA Bright Light. “We wanted to design a game where the entire family can explore, decorate, and solve challenges where no solution is wrong and the only limit is the imagination.”
Basically, it’s LittleBigPlanet. Apparently the more players explore the game, solve levels and customise their world, the more rewards they can unlock. You will be able to mess around with textures, props and animating objects, as well as brushes and tools. The game will be compatible with the PS Move on the PS3. Furthermore, PC, PS3, 360 and Mac owners will be able to share their creations, solutions and challenges on their system or on the game’s official website.
EA has finally announced Battlefield 3. Once again, it will be developed by DICE and beta access to the game will be included in the limited edition of Medal of Honor. EA are playing their cards close to their chest, saying that you can get an invitation to the Battlefield 3 beta “within 12 months following the release of Medal of Honor”. The beta will be available on the 360, PC and PS3, so it looks like the game will be too. It has been in development at DICE for the past three years and everyone that’s seen it seems to think it’s going to be pretty special. Well, at least the PC version.
