Online retailers have leaked news of a Battlefield: Bad Company 2 “Ultimate Edition”. They say it will be released in the UK on 3rd September and around that time in the US. Apparently, it will include Battlefield 1943, Bad Company 2’s Onslaught mode, limited edition unlocks and VIP downloads.
EA has finally announced Battlefield 3. Once again, it will be developed by DICE and beta access to the game will be included in the limited edition of Medal of Honor. EA are playing their cards close to their chest, saying that you can get an invitation to the Battlefield 3 beta “within 12 months following the release of Medal of Honor”. The beta will be available on the 360, PC and PS3, so it looks like the game will be too. It has been in development at DICE for the past three years and everyone that’s seen it seems to think it’s going to be pretty special. Well, at least the PC version.
EA has come out and said there’s still no inkling of a Battlefield 1943 PC release date. The game was released on the PS3 and 360 in July 2009. The ill-fated PC version was supposed to be released in September but got pushed back to early 2010. Evidently, it didn’t make that either. EA has now said that anyone who wants to cancel their pre-order for the game can get their money back with a refund.
EA has finally started the Xbox 360 Medal of Honor beta. To access it, you need to get a code from pre-ordering with a retailer like Play or GAME. Once you have that, visit http://www.medalofhonor.com/beta, login with your EA account, put the code into the box and select which version of the beta you want. Once you select 360, you’ll be given a download code that you can chuck into the redeem code part of Xbox.com’s marketplace or on the Xbox 360 dashboard. It’s a bit complicated.
The PC and PS3 betas have been going on for quite a while now, with EA making 360 gamers sweat a bit. The 360 beta is a bit behind the others, as EA claim it’s only “Tier 1” at the moment. We’re guessing they’ll update it as time goes by.
Folks that own the Steam version of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 on the PC have been given access to the Medal of Honor beta. DICE made Bad Company 2 and are currently working on the multiplayer component of Medal of Honor. A beta for MOH is expected to hit the 360 soon, but EA hasn’t let on when yet. The PS3 and PC beta has been taking part for a considerable amount of time. Medal of Honor will be released on 12th October for the 360, PS3 and PC.
DICE has confirmed that they will be releasing a 500MB PC patch for Battlefield Bad Company 2 tomorrow. It will hit at 1AM EST. All game servers will be going down for the four hour maintenance update. Hit up the full changelog after the jump, PC gamers.
DICE has reminded us that Battlefield Heroes has been going on for a year now, with the free-to-play third person shooter apparently doing well enough to continue. They are giving some free bonuses to gamers, including this promo code that will give you a two-day boost to your Victory Points and XP, as well as give you more Battle Funs for your money: 49TP-ZJB7-NVTR-P8AE (you can enter it at the Battlefield Heroes store).
EA and Dice’s latest re-installment of the hit classic, Medal of Honor, has been on the minds of just about every Battlefield fan since it was first introduced. For those that own Battlefield Bad Company 2 and have preordered the game from retailers, you may have had some issues using the PS3 download codes. It seems there has been a solution to this problem: patience.
Dice’s highly anticipated multiplayer beta is now available on PSN. It would seem that the problem with the download codes not working was simply a result of the download not even being available on the network yet. You have to be a Battlefield: BC2 VIP and obtain a redemption code from participating retailers by pre-ordering MoH. The beta is about 616MB.
