Crystal Dynamics has confirmed that they are developing a PS3-exclusive Tomb Raider Trilogy pack. It will be released on 22nd Match 2011 and includes Tomb Raider: Legend, Anniversary and Underworld. All three will have their own individual PlayStation Network trophies as well as unlockables for PlayStation Home. This is the first time Legend and Anniversary will be appearing on the PS3.

The Game Informer article that we talked about yesterday on our post about the new Tomb Raider reboot has unveiled a few tasty bits of info. The new Lara Croft will only be 21 years old and each time you make a mistake you will see her death. Seems a bit old school to us, but it will be pretty fun to see her crushed by boulders. Also expect no auto-lock aiming this time round. Apparently it will be more like Uncharted and will use a lot of performance motion capture.

Moreover, there is a more open-world feel with this Tomb Raider. There are base camps where you can create new items and combine old ones, as well as new areas where you can develop Lara’s skills with an RPG-esque upgrade system. The base camps also allow you to fast travel around the map. As Lara gets her hands on cool stuff and develops better skills, she will be able to access more of the island she has been unceremoniously dumped on. Crystal Dynamics believes that they can deliver a seamless, load-free world. There will also be food and water management too. Crystal Dynamics has confirmed that the long-rumoured Tomb Raider reboot is official. “After a brutal storm destroys the boat she was travelling on, a frightened young woman is left washed ashore on an unknown beach,” says the press release ever so dramatically. “On her own but not alone she has only one goal, to survive.”

“Forget everything you knew about Tomb Raider,” said Darrell Gallagher, head of studio at Crystal Dynamics.”This is an origins story that creates Lara Croft and takes her on a character defining journey like no other.”

Crystal Dynamics has released an update for the PS3 version of Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light. The update adds the ability to play the game via online co-op, a full month after the feature was added to the 360 version. 360 owners will get a free DLC pack for having to wait for the co-op patch. It’s not currently known if PS3 owners will get the same treatment.

Crystal Dynamics has confirmed that upcoming downloadable title Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light will be exclusive to the Xbox 360 for at least four weeks. The reason why it’s exclusive is because the game is part of Microsoft’s Summer of Arcade promotion. One of the bizarre requirements of being a part of the promotion is that the game can’t be on another platform for at least four weeks.

As soon as the exclusivity period finishes, the game will crop up on Steam for the PC and PSN for PS3.

Eurogamer has got the scoop on the next major title in the Tomb Raider series in development over at Crystal Dynamics. Their source claims that the next title will be released Christmas 2011. Apparently, it will be released on the PC, PS3 and 360. Crystal Dynamics has just finished up work on Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, an upcoming PSN, XBLA and PC title releasing Q3 2010.
