EA and BioWare have finally officially revealed Mass Effect 3 after loads of speculation, teasing and weird unveilings. This time round, Earth is burning and you have to unite some aliens to sort out business. Mass Effect 3 will be released in “holiday 2011”.

EA has finally dated Mass Effect 2 for the PlayStation 3. The game will be released on 18th January in the US and 21st January in Europe. The PS3 version includes some bonus content, including an interactive comic that bridges the storylines of Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2. EA has released a screenshot of a brand new unannounced BioWare game. It’s not quite apparent what the game is, but it doesn’t look like anything the impressive development outfit has created before unless Mass Effect 3 has flashbacks. Apparently we will know more at the VGAs next month.
BioWare has admitted that European copies of Dragon Age: Ultimate Edition for the PlayStation 3 were shipped without the “Return to Ostagar” DLC. BioWare has announced that Dragon Age 2 will feature a downloadable content platform similar to the Cerberus Network in Mass Effect 2. It’s part of EA’s Project Ten Dollar plan, where those who buy the game brand new will get access to the bonus DLC. Those that buy the game second hand will have to pay to access the content system and ergo, the actual content.
BioWare has confirmed that “The Lair of the Shadow Broker” (the next piece of downloadable content for Mass Effect 2) will be released on the PC and 360 on 7th September. BioWare has announced that Dragon Age 2 will be released on 11th March 2011 in Europe. They just confirmed the news over at gamescom in Germany. The game will be released on the PC, PS3 and 360.
BioWare head honcho Ray Muzyka has announced that Mass Effect 2 will be coming to the PS3. The space-opera RPG was released on the 360 a while back, and up until now the series has been exclusive to the Xbox 360 and the PC. The PS3 release will be available sometime in January 2011.
BioWare has unveiled two Advanced Class specialisations for Jedi Knights in Star Wars: The Old Republic. They are “Guardian” and “Sentinel”. Guardians seem to be a tank class, with “smooth movement even in heavy armour” and “inspiring allies to amazing feats”. BioWare has announced some new playable species for Star Wars: The Old Republic on the game’s website. The species include the Sith Pureblood, Miraluka and Zabraks. More will be announced in the coming months apparently, to build the hype train for the game’s spring 2011 launch.
BioWare has announced Golems of Amgarrak for Dragon Age: Origins. The DLC will be released on 10th August, and it tasks players with tracking down a missing Dwarven expedition indo an underground ruin. BioWare has announced the next DLC pack for Mass Effect 2. Entitled “Lair of the Shadow Broker”, it will feature Mass Effect 1 team member Liara T’Soni. Apparently, Liara fought the Shadow Broker two years ago to retrieve Shepard’s corpse and she has a bit of history with him/her. The DLC has a rather tentative “coming soon” date at the moment and there isn’t any hint of a price.
