The BBC and Asylum Entertainment have announced two new Doctor Who games for the DS and Wii. The Wii game will be called “Doctor Who: Return to Earth”, whereas the DS version is titled “Doctor Who: Evacuation Earth”. Asylum Entertainment will be developing both games. Their previous work includes the Peppa Pig and Horrid Henry games, as well as Sushi Go-Round for iPhone/iPod Touch. The story is being written in collaboration with the Doctor Who production team. Expect to see both games released sometime this winter.

The BBC has lifted the lid on the third episode of the Doctor Who: The Adventure Games. It will be called “TARDIS”, and follows the Doctor and Amy as they have to investigate the big blue box. It’s gone a bit wobbly so the duo needs to repair it. Once you’ve fixed it, you will apparently get to pilot the famous time machine. TARDIS will be released on Friday 27th August, for the low price of free on the PC and Mac via the BBC’s website.

“TARDIS is a brilliant, brilliant adventure,” said excited executive producer Steven Moffat. “It’s funny, touching, terrifying, amazing – everything a Doctor Who episode should be”. He went on to say: “Since 1963, kids have wondered what it would be like to control the TARDIS. Now we’re handing complete control of the most powerful ship in all of space and time to a generation of children. Everybody duck!”

The BBC has confirmed that the new version of their iPlayer will be coming to the PS3 sometime this year. iPlayer 2 is currently in beta for web browsers. It includes a section which recommends stuff you might want to watch and social network integration. The BBC is still interested in bringing iPlayer to the Xbox 360, but Microsoft still want to make it an Xbox Live Gold exclusive feature, which will go against the BBC’s public service remit.
