Apple has officially confirmed that they will be having an iPad 2 event next week on Wednesday March 2nd. It will all be going down at 6pm GMT (10am PST). The event takes place in San Francisco at the Yuerba Buena Center for the Arts, which is relatively close to where the Game Developers Conference will take place next week.

Apple has finally launched the App Store for Mac. It works just like the iOS version, with users being able to download applications from iTunes. If you buy or download a free app, it will immediately jump to the dock with an iOS-esque progress bar. Apple has finally slapped a date on their Mac App Store. It will be released on January 6th and will be available to OSX Snow Leopard users in 90 countries at launch. The app itself will be free. Apple head honcho Steve Jobs has confirmed that Epic Games is working on their first game for Apple platforms. He was joined on stage at Apple’s press conference by Epic president Mike Capps today to show off “Project Sword”. Steve Jobs announced a new iPod Touch (amongst other stuff) during an Apple press event today. Jobs claimed that currently, the iPod Touch outsells both Nintendo’s and Sony’s handhelds combined. Apple has announced that they have sold more than 1.7 million iPhone 4s between the 24th and 26th of June. However, the devices are marred by a signal problem. If users try to grip the phone in their left hand and cover up the bottom left hand corner with their palm, the 3G and Wi-Fi antennas are joined up by conductive skin and the signal reception goes a bit odd.   Read More ...

Apple has announced that the iPad will be released in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland and the UK on May 28th. The 16GB model will cost £429, with the 32GB clocking up at £499 and the 64GB selling for £599. 3G versions of the same models will respectively cost £529, £599 and £699.
