Gary Oldman and Ed Harris have been announced as voice actors for Call of Duty: Black Ops. Gary Oldman will be playing the same role he took on in Call of Duty: World at War, Viktor Reznov. Ed Harris will be playing CIA operative Jason Hudson, who’s apparently one of the game’s main characters. The actors are joined by Batman Begins and Batman: Dark Knight writer David S. Goyer, who will be providing script consultation and story development support. Black Ops will be released on 9th November for the PC, PS3, 360, Wii and DS.
“Oldman, Harris and Goyer are considered some of Hollywood’s finest talents and they perfectly complement Call of Duty: Black Ops’ ambitious and immersive single player experience,” said Treyarch studio boss Mark Lamia. “Their contributions have helped us to push the boundaries of our story telling and character development far beyond anything we have ever attempted before in the franchise.”
Activision has confirmed that Wu-Tang Clan co-founder RZA has signed up to DJ Hero 2. He will be a playable character in the game and has also mixed some music for people to play. DJ Hero 2 will be released on the Wii, PS3 and 360 on 22nd October.
Stats from Gfk ChartTrack have unveiled that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has become the best-selling game of all time in the UK. It has finally overtaken Dr Kawashima’s Brain Training after 41 weeks of being on sale. Modern Warfare 2 has spent three weeks outside the top 10. Dr Kawashima took about 36 months to overtake Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, the previous record holder.
Activision has confirmed a “Prestige” Edition for Call of Duty: Black Ops. It will set you back £130, and includes a real-life RC-XD Surveillance Vehicle. The RC car has a range of up to 200 feet, and has a remote camera that transmits both TFT colour video and audio to its operator. On top of that, Prestige has everything that’s in the Hardened Edition: a Black Ops custom medal, an avatar outfit and four in-game co-op maps. Prestige Edition is exclusive to HMV, GAME and Gamestation when the game’s released on 9th November for the PC, PS3 and 360.
Best Buy has confirmed that zombies will crop up in Treyarch’s Call of Duty: Black Ops via map packs. The Hardened Edition will feature “four Zombie Maps Pack made famous from COD: World at War”. They’ll probably be in the Prestige Edition too when the game’s released on the PC, PS3 and 360 on 9th November.

Activision has confirmed that Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock will be released on 24th September in the UK. North America will be getting the game on the 28th.
“Year-to-date, the music category has been relatively quiet due in part to lack of new releases,” said Activision CFO Thomas Tippl. “Warriors of Rock will be our only Guitar Hero release this year, and given its game quality and our full line-up of marketing activities, should generate consumer and retail excitement.
“This year’s game will introduce for the first time a deep story mode with more challenges than ever before, rock-inspired new hardware, the ability to use your existing Guitar Hero music library and an authentic set list featuring 95 songs.
Activision has announced that Soundgarden’s greatest hits album will be included in the first million launch units of US copies of Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock. European gamers will not get anything with their copies. We’re not sure if the album will be DLC in the UK or not yet either. Soundgarden’s new single, Black Rain, will also debut on the Warriors of Rock disc. Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock will be released on the PS3, 360 and Wii this September.
Activision has released a single-player demo for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. It comes nine months after the game’s launch and is available to download from the PlayStation Network and the Xbox Live Marketplace. It includes the entire Cliffhanger level.
Activision has announced that more than 20 million map packs for Call of Duty (all games in the series) have been sold. That particular milestone was achieved during the financial quarter that ended on 30th June 2010. The Resurgence Pack for Modern Warfare 2 is the most recent map pack. We suspect that Black Ops will get quite a few of them thanks to their instant cash generating nature.
Activision has announced DJ Tiesto will be making his videogaming debut in DJ Hero 2. He will be providing two mixes to the game and will be a playable character. He joins Deadmau5, David Guetta, DJ Qbert and others as playable DJs in the game.
“DJ Hero 2 is all about bringing people of different backgrounds, ages and music tastes together to have some fun DJ’ing their favourite music. The way the music comes together is fresh and unique and as a DJ, I couldn’t ask for more than that,” said Tiesto. “I am excited to be involved with this medium and to be contributing to a great game with an amazing soundtrack.”
Activision has confirmed that Boba Fett will be in Force Unleashed II. The news came at the San Diego ComiCon last night. You won’t get to play as the infamous bounty hunter, as Darth Vader has hired him to hunt down Juno. She was the love interest in the first game and understandably Darth doesn’t want any of that monkey business hanging round Starkiller’s clone. Force Unleashed II will be released on the DS, Wii, PC, PS3 and 360 on October 29th.
Activision revealed that they have added yet another turntable legend to the roster of DJ Hero 2, DJ Qbert. DJ Qbert is known for winning many world championship competitions and revolutionizing the genre.
“I’m excited about finally getting to bring the art of turntablism’s defining skills, as well as two exclusive mixes, to DJ Hero 2,” said DJ Qbert. “It’s been a dream of mine as a gamer to battle myself on the turntables and now millions of fans around the world and their friends will get their chance to also.”
DJ Qbert joins a roster that includes the likes of Deadmau5, David Guetta and others and will be bringing two intense scratch mixes to the game. DJ Hero 2 will be dropping on store shelves this fall for Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and Nintendo Wii.
