EA and DICE have just announced a multi-platform open beta for Battlefield 3 at EA’s E3 2011 press conference. The beta will begin in September, so look out for it then. We’ll be throwing up a gameplay video from the game later so keep your eyes open for that when it hits. EA and Insomniac Games have announced Overstrike, a new four-player co-op action game. According to the press release, “a shadowy organization has threatened to take over the world and there’s only one team that can stop it: Overstrike 9”. Microsoft and Turn 10 have finally announced a date for Forza Motorsport 4. The simulation racer will be hitting our 360s on October 11th this year. Expect loads of Kinect rubbish, fast cars and now (for the first time ever) 16-player multiplayer. Also expect community car clubs, a rivals mode and a world tour. Guess what just got demoed at Microsoft’s E3 2011 press conference? You might’ve guessed it from the title, and you would be right. It was Tomb Raider! Microsoft has just announced a scheme that will let Gears of War 3 beta players invite friends to share the shotgun-fest. Everyone who has played at least one game in the beta will receive a “buddy token”, that will allow an Xbox Live friend access to the beta. US users will also have other opportunities to invite their chums. The following actions will get you another token:

Nintendo has announced that they will be launching a successor to the Wii next year. The company confirmed the console in a note published today alongside its 2011 financial statement. The system is currently known under its codename moniker “Project Cafe”. 2K Games has released a new “Come Get Some” trailer for Duke Nukem Forever today, which you can see above. We really cannot wait to get our hands on the finished copy, based on our experiences playing it at various press events.
