The studio that brought us Scribblenauts; 5th Cell have announced Hybrid. It’s a new third-person shooter set in a post-apocalyptic landscape. Even though it’s a tried and tested premise, 5th Cell seems to think that they can provide “a completely new gameplay experience never seen before in the genre”. The game is currently exclusive to the Xbox Live Arcade and will be released in 2011.

Bethesda has released a patch for the 360 and PS3 versions of Fallout: New Vegas. The patch hit the PC last week, and it does seem to fix a few bugs with quest and scripting issues. However, loads of other bugs still exist in the game and it looks like Bethesda has a few more patches in development to push out.
Microsoft has announced that the global total of sold Xbox 360 consoles stands at 44.6 million. The game-per-console attach rate has also risen to 8.9. Keiji Inafune has decided that he will be quitting Capcom at the end of the month. He has been with the company for 23 years. He became the Head of R&D Management Group, Consumer Games R&D Division and Contents Management Division during his time there. Inafune said: “I’m leaving Capcom with the intention of starting my life over.”
Valve has sent word that they have released Left 4 Dead on the Mac. Mac gamers are now able to download the game through Steam. Valve also confirmed that they have a Halloween sale going down on Steam right now too. They seem to think that it features “savings up to 75% off select titles”.
Metal Gear Solid: Rising protagonist Raiden will be making a cameo appearance in Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood. ZeniMax media has bought Shinji Mikami’s Tango Gameworks studio. He was responsible for creating Resident Evil. Mikami and his studio join id Software, Bethesda Softworks and Arkane Studios in the ZeniMax developer group. Tango will be tasked on creating AAA releases for multiple platforms.
