Scottish studio Realtime Worlds has entered administration. The business has already been handed over to its new administrator, corporate rescue firm Begbies Traynor Group. The company now has a deadline to find an investor that can stop the firm from going into liquidation. It’s thought that their recent game; All Points Bulletin, was to blame. Sony has confirmed that they will be releasing two new PS3 models with bigger hard disks on 15th September. The company announced the new models at their press conference in gamescom, Germany. The new models are: a 320GB machine with a PlayStation Move motion controller kit, costing £284.99; and a 160GB machine for £249.99. Sony has lifted the lid on Resistance 3 at their press conference at Germany’s gamescom earlier. The company showed off a trailer (we’ll embed it somewhere at some point, but we’re in a rush at the moment). The trailer contained depressed train commuters (nothing unusual there then), blood-drenched railroad tracks and some aliens. The game will be released sometime in 2011.

Sony has unveiled Ratchet & Clank All 4 One for the PlayStation 3. The game will be released this autumn, and has a new focus on co-op. Four players will be able to play together online or offline in same-screen co-op. Players will be free to drop in or out whenever the mood takes them. Sony has announced Virtua Tennis 4 at their gamescom press conference, seemingly saving SEGA from doing it. The game made a brief appearance in a PlayStation Move/3D showreel, with SEGA confirming that the game could support both of those new bits of tech. No other formats were mentioned, given that it was a Sony press conference and SEGA has only confirmed the game for the PS3 so far.

Sony has announced the European release date for Gran Turismo 5 at gamescom in Germany. The game will be released on 3rd November for the territory. North America will be getting the game on 2nd November.

BioWare has announced that Dragon Age 2 will be released on 11th March 2011 in Europe. They just confirmed the news over at gamescom in Germany. The game will be released on the PC, PS3 and 360.

BioWare head honcho Ray Muzyka has announced that Mass Effect 2 will be coming to the PS3. The space-opera RPG was released on the 360 a while back, and up until now the series has been exclusive to the Xbox 360 and the PC. The PS3 release will be available sometime in January 2011.

EA has finally dated The Sims 3 on consoles for 26th October. John Buchanan just confirmed the date at gamescom in Germany. The game will be focused on positive and negative karma, as well as community features where you can share your stuff with players everywhere. It will be released on the DS, Wii, PS3 and 360.

THQ has shown off a new drawing tablet for the Wii. It’s called the “uDraw GameTablet” and it should be released sometime this Christmas. The tablet measures 9×6 inches, with a 4×6 drawing area. It’s about an inch-and-a-half thick. The device has a small housing for a Wiimote, with power coming from the controller. It also includes a pressure sensitive stylus, complete with two buttons to mimic a Wii nunchuck.   Read More ...

Microsoft has lifted the lid on Age of Empires Online for the PC. It’s an MMO with free-to-play “experiences” that they hope will mash strategy with RPG. Microsoft has announced that the Kinect will be released in the UK on 10th November. The 4GB Xbox 360 Kinect bundle will be released on that date for £249.99, alongside the device itself and games for it. The launch titles include Kinect Adventures, Kinect Sports, Kinectimals and Kinect Joy Ride. The rest of Europe should be getting the device on 17th November.

Warner Bros. has confirmed that they have delayed FEAR 3 until sometime in 2011. Previously, the game was supposed to be released in winter 2010. We’re not sure why the game’s been delayed but it looks like Warner Bros. wanted to shift it out of the busy winter release Armageddon. It will still be released on the PC, PS3 and 360.

Square Enix has announced Gun Loco for the Xbox 360. It’s currently exclusive to the platform and is due to be released in 2011. As foreshadowed b the title, Square Enix defines the game as a “sprint-action shooter”. Square Enix has confirmed that they will be releasing Front Mission 3 to the PlayStation Network and the PSP. The game was originally released on the PSone ten years ago. A price and date for the re-release hasn’t been confirmed yet. Square Enix haven’t added anything to the game, so expect a simple port.
