Satoru Iwata, Nintendo head-honcho and chief of dropping megatons is on £500,000 a year. He can earn up to £1.4m a year thanks to performance-related bonuses. In comparison, Sony CEO Sir Howard Stringer is on £3m a year. Six Nintendo board members, including absolute legend and all-round superhero Shigeru Miyamto earn £750,000 in total. Miyamoto has refused a higher salary from Nintendo.

DICE has confirmed that they will be releasing a 500MB PC patch for Battlefield Bad Company 2 tomorrow. It will hit at 1AM EST. All game servers will be going down for the four hour maintenance update. Hit up the full changelog after the jump, PC gamers.

THQ has announced Metro 2034, a sequel to Metro 2033. It will be available in 3D thanks to the publisher saving money by developing the game in Kiev, Ukraine. Metro 2033 was released on the PC and 360, but platforms for the sequel haven’t been announced yet. Eve Online developer CCP has opened a studio in Newcastle. CCP Newcastle will work with CCP Asia on the DUST 514, an upcoming console game (PS3, 360) that ties into the Eve universe. CCP Newcastle will be focused on getting increased performance from Unreal Engine 3. Sony has confirmed that the PlayStation 3 is now finally profitable. It might be because the Slim is made out of shoddy materials and reduces each component to its cheapest form, or people are actually buying it. Interplay has confirmed that MDK2 will be ported to the Wii and that MDK2 HD will be coming to the PC. The Wii game will be a WiiWare title, and should be released this Winter. The PC version will be released sometime afterwards on the Beamdog distribution platform. Beamdog are developing both games. Apple has announced that they have sold more than 1.7 million iPhone 4s between the 24th and 26th of June. However, the devices are marred by a signal problem. If users try to grip the phone in their left hand and cover up the bottom left hand corner with their palm, the 3G and Wi-Fi antennas are joined up by conductive skin and the signal reception goes a bit odd.   Read More ...

Sony has announced the specifics of the upcoming new PS3 firmware, 3.40. It doesn’t include cross game chat or 3D Blu-Ray support, but it does have some interesting new free things for everyone. It should go live “soon”, which normally translates as 6am UK time but obviously that isn’t set in stone. Have a look after the jump for a list (with actual pictures) of what to expect.

Capcom has announced that more downloadable content is coming to Lost Planet 2 at the end of July. The content includes a new Rush Arena mode, where you and three chums can fight against every boss in the game consecutively.
